Learn. Grow. Believe. Build a future.
An Afrikaans-based high school with small classes, a safe environment and purposeful support — so every learner can thrive.
Welcome
Sundowner Akademie is a small, supportive high school in Sundowner, Gauteng. We believe every child deserves a place where they are seen, heard and equipped — academically, emotionally and spiritually.
With classes of at most ten learners, we create space for individual attention, patient guidance and a community where learners feel safe to grow.
Is this the right school?
Not every learner thrives in a large system. Here they find a home — small enough to know them, strong enough to build them.
A maximum of 10 learners per class means real attention, faster feedback and less getting lost in the middle.
We work with ADHD, dyslexia and other learning challenges in a calm, structured environment.
From Grade 11 we build work-readiness — job shadowing, life skills and confidence.
Academics & support
Our Grades 8–12 programme combines solid subject content with individual support. When a learner needs extra time, alternative strategies or a quieter pace, there is space for that.
Life skills — from cooking to self-management — form part of the daily rhythm, so learners are equipped not only for exams, but for life.

Meet Our Principal
Principal
Vasti is an educator, leader, mother and passionate advocate for the whole child. With 16 years of teaching experience across primary and high school education, she has dedicated her career to creating learning environments where young people are not only academically equipped, but genuinely known, valued and inspired to become the very best versions of themselves.
As a mother of four, she understands that raising children is about so much more than marks and achievements. It is about character, confidence, resilience, values and discovering the unique purpose within each young person.
She believes that high school is not simply preparation for examinations — it is preparation for life. These are the years in which young people begin to discover who they are, what they believe, what they are capable of, and what kind of adults they want to become. Academic excellence matters, but so do emotional maturity, strong character, spiritual grounding and the courage to face an ever-changing world.
Her vision for our school is therefore simple but powerful: to educate the whole child.
We want our students to leave our school with more than a certificate. We want them to leave with a strong academic foundation, a sense of identity, confidence in their abilities, compassion for others, resilience when life becomes difficult, and the courage to pursue their dreams.
Every child carries potential. Our responsibility is to see it, nurture it and challenge it to grow.
At the heart of her leadership is the belief that education should change more than what a child knows — it should change what a child believes is possible.
Our school is being built with that purpose in mind: a place where young people are challenged to achieve, encouraged to believe, supported when they struggle, and prepared not merely to enter adulthood, but to thrive in it.
Because we are not just preparing students for their next exam.
We are preparing them for the life that comes after it.
Meet Our Teacher
Teacher
English • Technology • Economics
With 13 years of teaching experience, Roelien Greyling brings a rare combination of passion, knowledge and genuine commitment to the development of young people. She is an educator who understands that education is not simply about transferring information — it is about awakening curiosity, developing confidence and teaching learners how to think.
As our English, Technology and Economics teacher, Roelien brings together three disciplines that are fundamental to navigating the modern world. Through language, she empowers learners to communicate with confidence and clarity. Through Technology, she encourages innovation, problem-solving and creative thinking. Through Economics, she helps learners understand the world around them and equips them with practical insight into money, business, decision-making and the opportunities of the future.
Her classroom is a place where questions are welcomed, ideas are explored and learners are encouraged to look beyond the obvious. She believes that some of the most valuable lessons in education happen when a learner suddenly thinks, “I can do this.”
Roelien’s approach is rooted in the belief that every learner has something valuable to contribute. Her goal is not merely to prepare students for examinations, but to equip them with skills, confidence and a mindset that will serve them long after they leave the classroom.
She believes that the greatest gift an educator can give a young person is not simply knowledge, but the ability to think independently, communicate fearlessly, solve problems creatively and believe in their own potential.
At our school, Roelien is committed to creating an environment where academic excellence meets real-world relevance — where learners are encouraged to dream boldly, think differently and recognise the opportunities waiting beyond the classroom.
Because the world does not need young people who can simply memorise answers.
It needs young people who can ask better questions, create new solutions and have the courage to build the future.
Work-readiness
From Grade 11 we deliberately focus on work-readiness: how to present yourself, how a workplace functions, and how to apply your strengths in practice.
Learners get opportunities to experience real work environments — with guidance and reflection.
Practical skills in our kitchens and on campus build independence and responsibility.
Rooted in faith, nurtured potential — character forms the foundation of every future plan.
Campus & facilities
